Here at Dunkin’, we are committed to serving our guests great-tasting, high-quality products and cleaner menu labels. That’s why today we are announcing our plans to remove synthetic colorings from the Dunkin’ Donuts U.S. menu, beginning with a new lineup of cream cheese spreads launching this month.
It’s our goal to meet the evolving needs of our guests, including their preference for more nutritional transparency and simpler ingredients, while maintaining the great taste and fun, vibrant colors expected from Dunkin’ Donuts. We know that this is important to you, so it is important to us. That’s why our product development teams, in partnership with our suppliers, have been working towards eliminating synthetic colors from our products for several years, and we plan to replace with colors sourced from natural ingredients in the U.S. by the end of 2018.
Within the next two years, all your Dunkin’ favorites will contain only colors from natural sources – including donut icings, fillings and toppings, beverages such as Fruit Smoothies and COOLATTA® frozen drinks, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches and coffee flavorings. But don’t worry, our product development teams are hard at work to ensure you will still enjoy the same great taste you know and love.
To kick off, this month we are launching new cream cheese spreads without synthetic colors and flavors. The perfect spread for any bagel, Dunkin’ Donuts’ new cream cheese spreads are made with authentic ingredients, including real pieces of strawberries, veggies, chives and onions. Our flavor varieties include Plain, Reduced Fat Plain, Strawberry, Garden Veggie, and back by popular demand, Chive & Onion.
Our work to remove synthetic colors is part of a larger product development process we started in 2014, which is focused on reformulating many of our products to enhance menu quality by simplifying ingredient labels and lowering sodium and sugar content without sacrificing taste. We know there is more work to do and we remain committed to make meaningful changes to meet our guests’ needs and taste preferences. We will continue to keep you informed on our progress.
