The 73rd Miss USA Pageant dazzled us all, featuring Miss Massachusetts, Melissa Sapini, who also wears the crown of Dunkin’Tern. Melissa prepared for the state costume competition with support from Dunkin’®.
Fueled by Dunkin’ Refreshers, Melissa practiced her walk, selected her on-stage looks and, as part of her summer intern project, co-created a spectacular costume true to Dunkin’ fashion. Every Miss USA contestant needs a show-stopping, state-inspired costume, and Miss Massachusetts had the perfect ensemble, embodying Dunkin’s rich Massachusetts heritage.
Melissa graced the Miss USA stage in a Boston-inspired garment co-created with Dunkin’. The costume is a complete work of art, blending Melissa’s Haitian heritage with Massachusetts pride. Taking inspiration from The DunKings tracksuits, which became a pop culture hit after our Super Bowl ad, the costume features vibrant shades of pink and orange along with a showstopping, donut-inspired ring that reads “DUNKQUEEN.”
With much more to celebrate, Melissa placed top 10 in this year’s pageant. Standing by Melissa’s side on competition day was her mom, who immigrated to the United States from Haiti 23 years ago. Her first meal in the U.S. was at Dunkin’ – a bagel with cream cheese and a hot coffee. More than two decades later, her daughter is competing in the Miss USA Pageant, representing her home state of Massachusetts, and donning a dress inspired by Dunkin’.
