The Story Behind Dunkin’ Hash Browns

The Story Behind Dunkin’ Hash Browns

In honor of Member Mondays kicking off in April, where DD Perks ® members can score an order of hash browns for FREE (details below), we decided to look into the story behind this delicious fan favorite snack.

So what is so special about Dunkin’ hash browns? We met with a member of our culinary team, Holly, who gave us an inside look at this savory treat that was launched back in 2008, and has been a fan favorite ever since. Keep reading to learn more!

If you are a Dunkin’ hash browns fan, you may have noticed that signature to our hash browns is the seasoning profile, which is a proprietary blend. While she couldn’t spill the beans on our full seasoning blend, Holly let us know a couple key ingredients are sage, garlic, and parsley. As we perfected the Dunkin’ hash brown, the culinary team in the Dunkin’ Test Kitchen had experimented with different seasonings (like ranch) or sauces for our hash browns, but at the end of the day, we decided not to mess with a good thing.

Did you know that the potatoes used for our hash browns are primarily sourced from the U.S. Northeast and Pacific Northwest? Cool, right!? Originally created as a complement to any Dunkin’ breakfast sandwich, our hash browns have become a classic snack that fans love to enjoy on their own or with any Dunkin’ product. They also pair deliciously with our range of coffees, espresso drinks and teas.

You may be wondering, how do I get my free order of hash browns?  DD Perks® members just need to order any medium or larger beverage through On-The-Go Mobile Ordering any Monday in April and add an order of hash browns to their bag before they check out*. If you are not a DD Perks member, sign up for DD Perks by downloading the Dunkin’ app on the App Store or get it on Google Play
