Today is the marathon right here in our hometown of Boston. With 14 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants along the marathon route, we are proud to help keep runners and spectators energized.
This season, we partnered with another Boston-based brand, Saucony, to literally keep Bostonians running. In honor of the marathon, we introduced a limited-edition Dunkin’-inspired running shoe, the Saucony X Dunkin’ Kinvara 9. You can learn more about it here.

One particular runner who will be wearing the Saucony X Dunkin’ Kinvara 9 running shoes today is Saila Hanninen. Boston will be her eleventh marathon, and she has truly become an inspiration to all of us here at Dunkin’.
Originally from Finland, Saila currently lives in Denver. She’s always had a passion for sports, even completing an Ironman Triathlon in 2016. Last June, Saila was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. Since her diagnosis, she’s continued to run, showing real strength, perseverance and endurance. In fact, that’s the name of her foundation: Jaksaa, the Finnish word for strength and fortitude. With Jaksaa, Saila quest is to outrun cancer by raising awareness and funding for genetic lung cancer research, and her next stop is Boston.

Saila was inspired to run the marathon today in Boston by her two friends, Massachusetts native Kat Conlon and Amber Quayle, a recent cancer survivor. Today, Amber is running her first marathon, and Saila says she wants to be there when she finishes.
We were inspired by Saila’s story and when we heard she wanted to run in the Saucony X Dunkin’ Kinvara 9 because she was a big fan of Dunkin’, we were honored to help.
From all of us here at Dunkin’, good luck to Saila, Kat, Amber and all of the runners in today’s marathon!
