Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Day is just around the corner! As we countdown to May 23, we’re sharing some of the heartwarming stories made possible by grants from last year’s Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Day.
For the past 20 years, Dunkin’ has partnered with the Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island to support long-term initiatives, from ongoing hospital renovations to inpatient wellness programs.
Using funding from last year’s Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Day, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation® is helping bring art to children and teens within the pediatric hospital through a new waiting room initiative. As part of a larger hospital-wide art program, the new “Art While You Wait” workshops bring in local artists to work with kids on creating their own masterpieces in the waiting room, using Dunkin’-themed coloring books and other materials.
This initiative also includes support of Hasbro’s resident cartoonist Steve Brosnihan’s Cartoonagrams program, in which he uses letters of the alphabet to inspire kids to tap into their creativity and draw cartoons as a welcome distraction while in the hospital.
Hasbro Children’s Hospital has also made strides to improve the inpatient experience through recent renovations with help from the Foundation. Finishing touches were made last year to maximize convenience and comfort, including new state-of-the-art equipment, a teaching and observation area, and a kid-friendly redesign of rooms.
These latest improvements are part of Dunkin’s Joy in Childhood Foundation’s longstanding partnership with Hasbro Children’s Hospital which has helped more than 150,000 patients and 10,000 employees feel the joy of Dunkin’ each year. To celebrate funds raised during Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Day in 2022, the hospital held a celebratory check presentation and an Emergency Department waiting room dedication ceremony last fall.
On May 23, guests can make their coffee run count, as $1 from every iced coffee* sold at participating Dunkin’ locations will be donated to the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation to continue bringing the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger or illness across the country.
