To kick off the spring season, we are introducing a new Coconut Crème Pie flavored coffee. From looking at consumer trends to getting the flavor profile just right, I’m here to tell you how our newest coffee flavor came to life.
As a food scientist and Research and Development Technologist here at Dunkin’, I often look at industry trends to discover what the next big flavors are going to be. So, what’s the next big flavor? Coconut. According to the flavor experts at Firmenich, the number of coconut flavored food products in the marketplace has more than doubled over the last five years. In fact, it was even named Flavor of the Year in 2016 by Fimenich.
Why do consumers love coconut so much? It’s a fresh flavor reminiscent of the tropics, making it the perfect kickoff to warmer weather. For months, we’ve worked to bring this on-trend flavor to our coffee. Our guests already love our coconut donuts, but we had to make sure we got the flavor just right in our coffee as well. After testing and retesting the flavor, we perfected our Coconut Crème Pie flavored coffee.
Our Coconut Crème Pie flavored coffee uses natural, authentic coconut flavor that pairs perfectly with the sweet, roasted flavor profile of our coffee. Adding in crème flavor really rounds out the beverage, giving you a great blend of fresh coconut and creamy vanilla flavor in our classic iced coffee.
The result? A Coconut Crème Pie flavored coffee that will help you feel energized all spring and summer long. You can enjoy the flavor hot or iced and in any coffee, latte or macchiato.
