Randolph, Mass. (July 29, 2003) -- Dunkin' Donuts, America's leading retailer of coffee, donuts and bagels, today announced the grand prize winner of the company's music-themed summer promotion entitled "Route to Cool." Twenty-three year old Joe Maynard of Colchester, Vermont was named the grand prize winner of a private summer concert tour. This week Maynard and 10 friends will board their very own luxury tour bus outfitted by Dunkin' Donuts Incorporated and travel for eight days attending three of this summer's hottest concerts, including the All American Rejects and Michelle Branch.
Dunkin' Donuts' "Route to Cool" promotion ran from June 1 to July 15, and was created to increase summer beverage sales with young adult consumers. Elements of the promotion included network, broadcast and online advertising, as well as a dedicated promotional website. Customers entered the "Route to Cool" sweepstakes by entering prize codes found on Dunkin' Donuts Iced Coffee and Coolatta® slush drink cups online at the dedicated website, or by mailing in their entry.
"With nearly 600 thousand entries redeemed, the response we received from the "Route to Cool" sweepstakes demonstrates the increasing popularity of our summer beverages with young adults," Ken Kimmel, vice president Dunkin' Donuts Concepts.
Dunkin' Donuts advertising agency of record Hill, Holliday developed the promotion, as well as new spots for radio and television to promote the sweepstakes and Dunkin' Donuts summer beverages.
Maynard, whose name was randomly chosen from over 600 thousand entries, will attend and receive VIP treatment at three concerts including the All American Rejects in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 28, and Michelle Branch in Memphis, Tennessee on August 2.
In addition to the grand prize, over 25 thousand instant-win prizes were awarded, including specially produced Dunkin' Donuts CDs, home theater systems, CD players, MP3 players and other premiums.
