CANTON, Mass. (May 08, 2007) -- As Mother's Day approaches, you may want to think twice before serving mom breakfast in bed. Dunkin' Donuts, the largest coffee and baked goods chain in the world, is urging families to let mom get her beauty rest this year in response to a recent independent survey commissioned by the company that found nearly 70 percent of moms would rather sleep or have uninterrupted time to themselves than get breakfast in bed on their special day - and that's not all.
The survey, conducted by Caravan Opinion Research Corporation, studied the responses of more than 1,500 women across the United States who defined themselves as mothers, also showed that nearly 80 percent of today's mothers are torn equally between spending an extra hour with their children or themselves. Less than 20 percent of respondents would choose to spend that time with their spouse or partner if they were given an extra hour in their day.
"This survey further underscores that moms need more time to rest and relax. We know the moms that we serve are always on the go," said Regina Lewis, vice president of consumer brand insight group for Dunkin' Brands. "Mothers' lives are jam-packed with activities, from multi-tasking in the office, at home and everywhere in between, and this is why Dunkin' Donuts - with our speed and efficiency - is such a part of their lives."
The survey also revealed that mealtimes are the busiest times for moms. Nearly 93 percent of mothers surveyed said they try to accomplish more than one task at a time, with 40 percent more moms multi-tasking while cooking dinner than while at work, in their cars or watching television. In addition, almost 20 percent of mothers surveyed do not find time to eat breakfast, an important start to fueling the day.
With moms leading busier lives than ever before, the Dunkin' Donuts card is a great gift to help make mom's life a little easier this Mother's Day. It's the quick and effortless way for her to pick up her favorite Dunkin' Donuts food and beverages. It also makes a great gift for any Dunkin' Donuts lover. The Dunkin' Donuts Card is accepted at participating restaurants throughout the United States.
