How to Make Cowboy Coffee

Nothing says summer like a camping trip! From swimming and hiking to grilling and making s’mores, it’s always fun to spend some time in the great outdoors. Well, except for the part where you got a questionable night of sleep and don’t have access to a coffee maker.

Don’t worry, campers, we’ve got your back with instructions on how to make coffee over the campfire, also known as cowboy coffee! All you need is packaged coffee, available to purchase at Dunkin’ stores, a medium pot with a handle or coffee percolator, and water.

Check out a step-by-step guide on how to make cowboy coffee below:

1. Choose Your Amount of Coffee

First, decide how much coffee you want to make! Simply add 8 oz. of water to your pot for each desired cup. Then, measure out 2 tbsp. of ground coffee for every cup.

2. Heat Water to a Boil

Next, heat the water to a boil over your campfire. Once boiling, remove the pot from the fire and let the water sit for about 30 seconds. Then, add the coffee grinds.

3. Mix in the Grinds

Stir the grinds into the hot water, then let them sit for about 4 minutes.

4. Pour and Enjoy!

After the 4 minutes have passed, gently stir the coffee then stop, and wait another 10-15 seconds to allow the grounds to sink to the bottom of your pot. Now pour the coffee into your mugs slowly so the grounds remain at the bottom of the pot. Lastly, sip and enjoy a delicious cup of Dunkin’ coffee!
