April is National Volunteer Month – a time to celebrate the importance of volunteerism in our communities and take action to give back to those in need. In alignment with Inspire Brands’ “Good Citizens Month,” the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, celebrated National Volunteer Month across the country by volunteering at more than 100 local food banks in their communities.

All month long, Dunkin’ franchisees and crew members are visiting local food banks across the country to volunteer their time and efforts toward supporting the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation’s mission to provide the simple joys of childhood to kids battling hunger.

“Every day, 1 in 8 kids in the United States are at risk for hunger, impacting their ability to learn and lead healthy lives,” said Erin Pochay, Sr. Specialist at the Foundation, who leads the nationwide volunteer effort. “We are proud of the outpouring of support from our Dunkin’ employees, franchisees and crew members to lend a helping hand in the fight to end childhood hunger. Together, alongside our community partners, we can continue to bring awareness to childhood hunger and support our neighbors.”

From packaging and sorting nonperishable food items to preparing meal packages for families in need, the Dunkin’ team will volunteer over 5,950 hours at food banks this month alone.
Since 2015, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation has granted nearly $10 million to over 1,200 hunger relief organizations. Of that, $5.7 million has directly supported Feeding America’s childhood hunger relief efforts. As part of its continued support of Feeding America, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, alongside its Dunkin’ franchisees, brand employees and crew members, volunteer at foodbanks across the country throughout the year. Over the last 10 years, Dunkin’ franchisees and team members have volunteered more than 35,000 hours of their time to support local hunger relief organizations.
